Professional Experience
Boeing Company
Seattle, WA

October 1998 to January 2003
System Design and Integration Specialist
Analyze backup architecture using standard system design methodology (see and of resume for sample project) for capacity/performance issues. Using those methods expanded the backup capacity using existing hardware by 30%, enabling EMC disk upgrade/consolidation without having to buy new backup hardware or software.

Install, configure, test and administer the backup software (Alexandria) for the IBM NUMAs in the HADS lab. Install, configure, test and administer Solaris (Sun) and the ACSLS product (which uses an Oracle database to keep track of the tapes in the library), which runs on that platform. Configure and troubleshoot the operation of the STK 9710 in the HADS lab environment, including reconfiguring lab bridges and switches for testing.

Install and upgrade the Dynix/ptx operating system on the IBM NUMA hardware in the HADS lab. Installed and configured Oracle Enterprise Server in the HADS lab, on my W2K laptop, and in the Linux lab for testing. Created the Oracle Repositories for use with Oracle Designer on both my local W2K laptop and remote Oracle repositories on the IBM NUMA. Generated test databases on the test systems. Used Oracle Enterprise Manager to manage the databases on each of the systems

October 1996 to 1998
Computing Process and Data Architect.
Consulted on the reengineering of the processes which create the distributed computing environments and was instrumental in the integration of the design/build team methodology into the building of the distributed computing environments.
Installed HP OS, Oracle and ITO on HP servers. Planned and executed tests of the functionality and supportability of the distributed computing engineering requirements planning (ERP) system.

January 1996 to October 1996
Business Systems Programmer Analyst
Determined the airline customer's need and arranged for the generation and delivery of the digital data (SGML) and products. Consulted with airline customers in South America on the integration of the digital (SGML) versions of the maintenance manuals into their work order process. Trained airline customer personnel to setup and use the Boeing software products for maintenance and repair of their aircraft.

Set up Sun servers to demonstrate the Boeing software products to potential customers.

April 1987 to December 1995
Computing Systems Programmer Analyst
Administered an annual software budget of over $1 million. Eliminated unused software. Reduced licensing when usage stopped on a node. Evaluated new program products and new program product features. Counseled project architects and project managers on conversion alternatives when cost effective alternatives were available. Arranged user testing periods when new versions of software were being introduced. Represented Boeing's position on proposed changes to program products. Identified desirable program product enhancements and developed the situation, target and proposal to the vendor for implementation.

Programmed productivity tools to assist me in managing software across 50 IBM nodes in the Puget Sound area, Philadelphia and Ireland. Designed and implemented tools in clists, NJE jobs, programs written in C, FORTRAN, COBOL and PL/I, Syncsort (a vendor utility), and local library routines written in assembler to access system level functions.

Coordinated system changes across diverse development and production groups. Created the content and released the bulletins that notified users of changes to the MVS program products. Reviewed and authorized the release of all VM and MVS bulletins notifying users of changes in the IBM mainframe nodes and the networks which connected them.

Analyzed problems reported by production control and users Provided Ad Hoc Training to new users/developers in the programming languages (FORTRAN, COBOL, PL/I, C, C++,...) and mainframe structure, facilities and networks. Provided consultation to senior programmers and architects on specific programming related issues and was instrumental in identifying and testing the solutions to programming roadblocks which meant the difference between success and failure of some projects.

Maintained program products using SMPE on IBM mainframes. Recommended the adoption of new program products. Instituted standard naming conventions for the program products. Defined the Company wide standards for the usage of the program products.

Defined and created the security profiles for the program products and devised standard naming conventions and aliases to simplify installation and migration of the program products.

Provided general consultation services on the use of security features (RACF) and assisted users in converting from fully qualified name profiles to generic group profiles. Provided general consultation services on the use of HSM and the definition and use of storage classes. Provided general consultation services on the use of the Boeing network. Engaged subject matter exerts in each of the areas when required. Provided feedback when security/network/storage standards were not meeting customer requirements and assisted in drafting new standards or production policies when necessary.

November 1984 to March 1987
Engineering Computing Systems Programmer Analyst.
Analyzed complex math (three dimensional geometry) problems in manufacturing. Designed and Implemented solutions in FORTRAN and Assembler. Integrated the solutions into the computer assisted manufacturing (CAM) software (APT).
